Retired and still learning: Middle School Teacher

Writer

Gramma of Wired Grandkids

So much to do and so little time!  Luckily, my husband and I enjoy the same hobbies (walking the dog, boating, and geeking out on Mac computers), so all the time I spend learning and preparing for teaching the best that I can so my students can be their best — in their future– is appreciated and understood.

Students today enjoy the connectedness of social networking; it is part of their very being. My goal as a retired teacher is to offer guidance from research and my experience for other educators, so they too may bring their instruction into that cloud to teach the content required in ways that inspire online responsibility and ethics in this new, very public world.

In today’s education reform, we all need to consider the issues carefully for the sake of our children’s future.

It’s impossible to imagine what will be in the next few years because of the frequent advances and changes in technology, but I do know that my students needed me to be informed and engaged, leading with the educational transformation occurring right now. For them to be successful, they need guidance in the tools they choose to use.  Hopefully, schools will allow those tools in the classroom so that all educators can “bring instruction into that cloud to teach the content required in ways that inspire online responsibility and ethics in this new, very public world.”

I am so thankful for the families and students as we engages and interacted and learned together in our projects.

And yet, there’s so much more to learn… here we go…

These are my thoughts, not my employers.

Please remember: I’m thinking things through; please be patient with any errors.

Thank you.Sheri Edwards. 2016
